Wellness is a multi-faceted term, and each person has their own interpretation of what wellness means to them. When talking about the wellness of a space, you could be referring to fitness, mental clarity, fostering creativity, and more. Now there is a way to analyze and grade a space based on all of the factors that make up wellness.
By now, you’ve probably heard of buildings being LEED certified, meaning sustainable or eco-friendly building materials were used in its construction. But there’s a new building certification you need to know about—one that takes a more holistic, personal approach. The WELL Building Standard (WELL) is a system that grades the environments in which people work and spend time. Instead of looking at the building materials, like LEED certification does, WELL focuses on the people who are affected by the built environment. WELL concepts can be incorporated into almost any space, and sagegreenlife can help.
WELL certification is given by the International WELL Building Institute and verified by Green Business Certification, Inc., the same people who give LEED certifications. But unlike LEED’s focus on sustainable building materials and practices, WELL focuses on the health and wellness of the people who occupy those spaces . According to Delos, a partner in WELL’s development, the goal of WELL is “harnessing the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and well-being.”
WELL certification is separated into seven core concepts. Each core concept— air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind—is graded, and receiving high marks in these seven concepts is indicative that the space encourages productivity and wellness.
Sagegreenlife, at its core, is about bringing greenery and wellness to everyone by changing the way nature is incorporated into the built environment. Plants are known to purify air, and by bringing plant life into buildings in the form of a soil-free sagegreenlife vertical garden, air is purified while diminishing the risk of pests. It has also been shown through research that the presence of plants in a work environment reduces stress.
Sagegreenlife living walls are an innovative way to bring more plants into an office environment without taking up valuable floor or desk space. The Biotiles™ that make up sagegreenlife walls also reduce noise, which adds comfort and tranquility to any workspace—another advantage of sagegreenlife vertical gardens.
